Mr. Gee most recently served as Assistant Finance Director for the City of San Antonio, and led the Divisions of Public Utilities and the Division of Compliance and Resolution. In his role with the City of San Antonio, Mr. Gee’s primary responsibilities included guiding the Public Utilities Division in the performance of comprehensive reviews of proposed rate adjustments and debt issuances. He also oversaw the development of multi-year revenue projections for various utilities owned by the City of San Antonio. As head of the Compliance and Resolution Division, Mr. Gee ensured that certain taxes were levied correctly and that terms and conditions of contracts with the City of San Antonio were met.
Prior to the City of San Antonio, Mr. Gee served as Finance Director for the Louisville Metropolitan Sewer District for 11 years. In Louisville, he developed the financing plan for the District’s $843 million federal consent decree and communicated the plan to elected officials, local business associations, and community stakeholder groups. Mr. Gee also successfully issued $1.8 billion in Revenue Bonds, Bond Anticipation Notes, and Build America Bonds for capital improvement programs and to refinance outstanding debt.
Mr. Gee replaces Jan Zimmerman, who retired as MSD Director of Finance in May 2015 after 14 years with the organization. A national search was conducted for Ms. Zimmerman’s replacement.
Mr. Gee has a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, both from the University of Louisville. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Mr. Gee is a member of the Government Finance Officers Association (former Chair of the Treasury & Investment Committee) and the American Public Power Association. He is also the former Chair of the Boards of United Way of Kentucky and Volunteers of America Kentucky. He is married and has one daughter.
