Stream Clean Up Opportunities

Missouri Stream Team

The Stream Team program is a network of citizens who are involved in education, stewardship, and advocacy on behalf of Missouri streams, participating in activities such as water quality monitoring, stream clean-ups, tree planting, and more. Membership is free to any interested citizen, family or organization. The program is sponsored by the Missouri Department of Conservation and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. For clean-up events, the MDC provides free trash bags and work gloves. For more information contact the Stream Team at (800) 781-1989, or visit www.mostreamteam.org.

MSD partners with community groups in these clean-ups by providing supplies and trash dumpsters for the disposal of trash removed from the streams. Contact us at (314) 436-8708 for more information.

Clean Ups

Trash bash clean ups give citizens the opportunity to volunteer to help make the St. Louis community a better place by cleaning up our neighborhoods, rivers, and streams. Volunteering is also a great way for scouts to earn badges and students to earn community service hours. Please dress appropriately for working outside and current weather conditions. Be prepared to get wet and muddy.

To volunteer for any trash bash, click on the registration link below. Contact us at (314) 436-8708 for more information.

Confluence Trash Bash -- March 23, 2013
Join us as we make a difference in our communities by cleaning up our neighborhoods, rivers, and streams. Volunteers can choose from the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge, Creve Coeur Lake, or Ferdinand Park as their starting site. Clean-up sites will then be assigned and are near your starting location. We have many family friendly sites. Lunch is provided, and prizes are awarded for best trash finds. Volunteers will also receive a t-shirt. Volunteers must complete a waiver to participate. Please print out the waiver and bring it with you. (Register) (Waiver)

River Des Peres Trash Bash
The main registration and after clean-up festivities will be along the River Des Peres Greenway Trail on River des Peres Blvd between Morganford and Gravois at Fultz Field in St. Louis City.

Operation Clean Stream

Operation Clean Stream -- www.openspacestl.org -- is one of the country's largest and longest running river restoration projects. Volunteers clean the Meramec River and its tributaries, removing trash and debris from littering and dumping.
